  • On Thursday evening, the sold out Gender Identity and Women’s Rights talk featuring Meghan Murphy and Lee Lakeman proceeded at the Vancouver Public Library (VPL) without issue, despite protestors outside and the VPL forcing the event to be held after hours.
  • Saudi women are demanding an end to the country’s male-dominated guardianship system after a teen fled the country and sought asylum in Canada, fearing she would be killed by her family. An Arabic hashtag that translates to “remove the guardianship system or we’ll migrate” is now trending on Saudi social media.
  • UK websites with pornographic material are now required to have site visitors verify their age under a new law, beginning April.
  • Women in Croatia are protesting being put through avoidable suffering and abuse during pregnancy and childbirth, in what is being called “obstetric violence” that has reportedly gone on for decades.
  • Questions are being raised about the U.S. government enabling forced child marriage after thousands of requests by men to bring in child and adolescent brides to live in the U.S. were approved over the past decade.
