WhatsApp snooping case: Government refutes allegations, says its committed to protecting rights of every citizen

The home ministry on Thursday refuted suggestions by the opposition parties alleging government’s role in snooping of WhatsApp accounts of Indian journalists and civil society members using Israeli spyware Pegasus. Facebook-owned WhatsApp on Thursday said Indian journalists and human rights activists were among those globally spied upon by unnamed entities using an Israeli spyware Pegasus.
